Set Up GLNs for Cash Visibility
A Global Location Number (GLN) uniquely identifies a party or location involved in the movement and processing of cash. Organizations can use GLNs to consistently identify physical locations and other cash touchpoints across Cash Visibility workflows.
Cash Visibility currently supports orders and deposits involving the Federal Reserve’s FedCash E-Manifest Service. Because the program may expand to additional cash supply chain workflows, consider both current and anticipated locations when planning your GLN structure.
To use GLNs for Cash Visibility, your organization must have a GS1 US Account and the appropriate GS1 Identifiers (GLN) for its locations.
If your organization is not already a GS1 US member or does not yet have the identifiers you need, visit the GS1 US Store to get started.

Begin by identifying the physical locations and operational touchpoints involved in your Cash Visibility workflows.
Use the following guidance when planning your GLNs:
| Scenario | Recommended Action |
| A vault or branch orders cash from or makes deposits to the Federal Reserve | Create or identify a unique GLN for the physical location. |
| A location maintains multiple inventories within one vault | Consider whether each inventory should have a separate GLN. |
| Coin or eCash is managed separately | Confirm with your armored carrier whether a separate GLN is needed. |
| Your organization plans to add ATMs, safes, cash processing facilities, or other cash touchpoints | Document the anticipated locations before finalizing your GLN structure. |
You can create locations and assign GLNs using your GS1 US Account.
