Publish your GLN Offering
After you license a GLN from GS1 US®, you receive the 13-digit GLN in the "Welcome" email from GS1 US.
The GLN is initially created in a Draft state. While in Draft, the GLN is not searchable by other organizations.
To make your GLN discoverable, GS1 US recommends that you publish it. Publishing allows your business and trading partners to search for and locate the GLN through the Verified by GS1 service. This helps ensure accurate location identification across your supply chain.

Login and navigate to My Locations. Click the GLN Hyperlink to open the Location Details record.
Click the Choose Administrative Parent button. The Select Parent Location window displays. The Top Level GLN must serve as the Administrative Parent.
The GLN Type represents what is being identified. GLNs can be used to answer the question of “where” business-related transactions occur for physical and digital locations. GLNs can also identify “who” is involved within business-related transaction by identifying the party. Selections available describe locations and parties. Based on which GLN Type you select, specific fields will display, and these will be noted in the next few steps (e.g., GLN Type is Fixed Physical). Click the Continue button to Display the Step 2 page.
If you're creating a Fixed Physical GLN Type, Check Street or Postal Address, GPC Coordinates, or GEO Shape. If you check Street or Postal Address:
Enter your address in the “Address Line 1” field. The system will suggest addresses based on the USPS database. Select the correct address from the suggestions and it will be displayed.
Note: If the GLN Type is Fixed Physical, you cannot change Address Line 1 after you publish this GLN. Address information is optional if GLN Type is Legal Entity or Function. If you do not want to enter an address, uncheck the box for Street or Postal Address.
You must enter one of these contact fields. This data is shared with Location View/Use subscribers, but NOT with global users of the Verified by GS1 service. For the phone number, include the area code, and do not enter dashes.
You can select more than one of these business attributes. View the Create a Location article for the different Business Attribute definitions.
After you publish, any GLN Types you have added will be made “Active.” By default, the GLN is now being shared with all other GS1 US Location users.
